Tool makes — and breaks — rules of concert experience with mixed success
The Tool concert Tuesday night was awwwwwesome, man! Full of deep cuts going back 25 years, they totally broke the rules of what a concert looks like with mind-blowing psychedelic visuals — and Maynard James Keenan was all about the music, not some flashy showboat frontman!
And for those of you who love Tool with the passion of one of your own kids, that can totally be the review of the downtown arena show for you. You can walk away.

The Grand Taste Tour pairs farms and locally sourced dinner for day-long events
The perceived romance of farming continues to draw city folk to clamber aboard buses and head out for a day in the country. In response to this demand, Taste Alberta and the 124 Grand Market have organized two rural excursions to take place during the summer, trips that include partners such as Doef’s Greenhouse, Blindman Brewery and the Ukrainian Heritage Cultural Village.

Wednesday's letters: Canadian Pride flag a symbol of nation's values
Re. “Kids desecrated flag with rainbow,” Letters, June 13
Stephen Luchak writes that the mixture of Pride colours and the Canadian flag is somehow offensive to him “as a veteran.” He describes the flag as “desecrated.”
Isn’t the right to free speech one of the cherished values that Canadian soldiers have fought to protect? I might have hoped that Luchak would continue to uphold those Canadian values even after he left his military career.

Opinion: Homes and buildings are key to clean growth
We don’t often think about the buildings in which we live, work, learn, eat, shop, and play as being major sources of carbon emissions.
However, the energy used for heating, air conditioning, hot water, appliances, equipment, and lighting is responsible for 124 million tonnes of carbon emissions per year in Canada, or 20 per cent of our country’s annual total. To put this in perspective, that’s equivalent to the annual amount of carbon emitted by all the vehicles on the road in -
