    Three teens are accused of breaking into a business in the 200 block of Bay Street.The break-in happened early Tuesday, police say. The suspects were arrested Wednesday. The accused, aged 15, 16 and 17, were charged with break and enter and mischief under $5,000. They can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

    Two men tampered with exterior door locks and security cameras to allow non-tenants into an east-end multi-unit residence, police say.The mischief in the 600 block of Wellington Street East was reported on March 4. The suspects were arrested March 6 and March 11. Winston Causley, 56, was charged with mischief.     A man missed a court date for domestic violence last fall because he started using drugs again, court heard Thursday. Braiden Eshkakogan was struggling with crystal methamphetamine and opiates after being clean for three years, said defene counsel Sarah Tucci. He “lost track” of what was happening in his life. Eshkakogan was supposed to be in court Oct. 15. He pleaded guilty to failing attend court. Eshkakogan, 30, was arrested Dec. 18. He’s been in custody since that date.Eshk

  • Algoma 4th-quarter loss widens to $364.7M from $66.5M last year

    The Canadian Press Algoma Steel Group Inc. reported a net loss of $364.7 million in the fourth quarter compared with a net loss of $66.5 million during the same period a year earlier.
      That amounted to a net loss per common share of $3.36 compared with a net loss of 61 cents in the prior year quarter.
      The Sault Ste. Marie-based steel producer says its consolidated revenue came in at $455 million during the period ended Dec. 31, down year over year from $590.3 million.
