    DESBARATS — Kensington Conservancy celebrated its first anniversary in its new building with an open-house gathering.
    The organization received its not-for-profit status in 2001 and charitable status in 2006, and its office was completed in December 2017.
    “The new office has made us a lot more accessible. We’ve got new trails and plan to double them again this year,” said Tanna Elliott, executive director.

    Camps were entered in the Thessalon area in mid-December.Properties on Feltham Road, Walker Road and Scheuemann Highway were targeted, Ontario Provincial Police say.A neighbour confronted two males at a property on Feltham Road.     “Quilts For Kids,” a charitable group, began over four years ago out of a chance conversation Vicki Young had with a friend about quilts being donated to an orphanage in Africa.
    Immediately Vicki decided she too, along with some friends, could do this for those who may need quilts in Sault Ste. Marie.
    She contacted the head office in Pennsylvania and started the first Canadian chapter of “Quilts For Kids.”
    Since its inception the group has sewn and donated more than 3,400
