• SAH posts year-end surplus

    Latest Sault Area Hospital operating results saw development in the dollars and other departments, and challenges elsewhere.
    The facility’s 2017/2018 year-end financial numbers posted a surplus of $831,000, a “significant” improvement from last year at this time, when the hospital was dogged with a $537,000 deficit. Also, at the end of August, the hospital’s surplus from operations was $392,000, some $140,000 higher than planned for at that point.

    An Azilda, Ont., man used a vehicle to track and run over and pin a bull moose, before dispatching the animal with an axe.

    At approximately 12:30 a.m., Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to a single-vehicle motor vehicle collision near the intersection of Allens Side Road and Fourth Line.
    Police say a silver Dodge pick up truck was westbound on Fourth Line West when it failed to negotiate a curve in the road properly. The truck struck a guard rail and then continued on striking a parked vehicle.
