The Sault Star
A large part of the south-western portion of Ward 5 is zoned heavy industrial. The area includes industries such as Algoma Steel, Arauco Flakeboard and the Port of Algoma.
The city is also hoping that it is successful in its bid to draw Noront Resources to Sault Ste. Marie and that existing industrial lands owned by Algoma become the new home of a ferrochrome facility, creating hundreds of good-paying, long-term jobs.
