    Voters can get a head start to casting their ballots this weekend for the next municipal council and school board trustees.
    The City of Sault Ste. Marie is hosting its first of three advance voting days on Sat. Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
    Additional advance voting days will be held at the Civic Centre on Wed. Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Sat. Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Sentencing for a man who pointed a shotgun at several other people during a confrontation north of Sault Ste. Marie last summer is pushed back.Albert Sewell, 62, pleaded guilty to three counts pointing a firearm on Monday.     Algoma University’s own Dr. Brandon Schamp has been published in the preeminent science journal Nature.
    His research demonstrates how taller plant species are moving north into the arctic due to climate change.
    Schamp is an associate professor at Algoma U’s biology department. He holds a PhD and a Master’s of Science from Queen’s University and an Honours Bachelor of Science from Wilfrid Laurier University.
