    Developing Smart Cities and helping municipalities develop future economies were among the conversations held at the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference.
    Tom Vair, deputy CAO of community development and enterprise services, said the conference highlighted a number of issues important to municipalities across Ontario and suggest that government funding for some is pending.

    A 31-year-old woman from South Africa is dead following a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a bicycle.
    OPP say the accident occurred on Highway 17, west of Dayton Road, in Huron Shores at about 8 p.m. Wednesday.
    Police say the female cyclist was westbound on Highway 17 when she was struck from the rear by a westbound car.
    Deidra Barch, 31, from South Africa, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
    A post mortem is to be conducted.
    The investigation is ongoing. The highway has reopened.

    A Toronto judge has given a positive endorsement to work completed to broker the sale of Sault Ste. Marie’s steelmaker but the deal has not yet been finalized.
    The court heard that the Port of Algoma’s financeer GIP and Algoma’s purchaser have come to an agreement, resolving the final non-governmental outstanding matter for the sale to take place.
    Superior Court Justice Glenn Hainey is providing time to the parties to finalize that agreement and return it to the court.
