  An arrest warrant was issued for Steven Briggs, an inmate at the Saskatchewan Penitentiary who was unaccounted for during a New Year’s Eve headcount.
  According to Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), the 24-year-old Briggs was discovered missing during the 10 p.m. count in the minimum-security unit of the Prince Albert facility.
  CSC immediately contacted Prince Albert RCMP, and an arrest warrant was issued.

  Ayla Juliette Mann is Saskatoon’s official new year’s baby of 2019, joining mother Meagan, father Graeme and big brother Emery at Royal University Hospital on Tuesday at 1:55 a.m.
  Ayla is the couple’s second child to be born on New Year’s Day. Emery was the second baby of the year in 2017.

  The number of calls made to Saskatoon police on New Year’s Eve was notable. The nature of the calls, not so much.
  Police responded to 271 calls in the 12-hour period starting on Dec. 31 at 5 p.m. That qualifies as a busy night, Staff Sgt. Tonya Gresty said on Tuesday. Even with a high number of calls, there was “nothing significant or exciting,” she said.
