Saskatchewan Rush drops NLL season-opener
Saskatchewan Rush won’t be able to ring in the New Year on a winning note.
The Rush dropped its National Lacrosse League season-opener Friday night with a 12-11 loss to the host New England Black Wolves.
The Wolves built up a quick 4-1 lead, outshooting the visitors 21-7 in the opening quarter.
Ben McIntosh netted three goals and two assists for the Rush squad, which trailed 9-7 at half-time but rebounded to tie the game at 10-10 after three quarters.

The Saskatoon Blazers remain undefeated at the Mac’s Invitational world midget AAA hockey tournament in Calgary.
The Blazers blanked the Rocky Mountain Rough Riders, from Colorado, 3-0 Friday to improve their tournament record to 3-0. Nolan Flamand, Cole Nagy and Karter Prosofsky scored Friday for the Blazers, while Brett Mirwald made 16 saves for the shutout.
