Letter of the Day: Many dire climate warnings over years
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has issued a dire warning that humanity will be doomed if we do not drastically reduce CO2 emissions in 12 years.
If we look back a few years, there have been other such warnings, and it seems they never really come to fruition. In 1970 an ice age was predicted by the year 2000. In 1989 they predicted global warming and rising sea levels would wipe entire nations off the map by 2000, and snow would be a thing of the past. In 2006 Al Gore -

Gardening: Many ferns are adapted to indoor conditions
I remember my grandfather’s fern. He kept it in a north window and there it thrived. I think it was a Boston fern, with dark green, three-foot long, feather-like arching fronds mounding over and obscuring the pot atop a plant stand.
Ferns are predominantly green with only few species and selections with variegated fronds. Ferns reproduce by spores (found in small brown dots or in rows along leaf margins on the undersides of fronds) instead of seeds. This means there are no colourful flower -
