Review: First Persephone production of Fiddler on the Roof worth the wait
Tradition is the cornerstone of life in the fictional Russian village of Anatevka in the classic musical Fiddler on the Roof.
Thus, it is a fitting choice for Persephone Theatre’s customary holiday offering. Saskatoon has its traditions too, and the family-focused productions delivered at this time of year are beloved.
Surprisingly, this is the first time Persephone has presented the popular musical. It was worth the wait.

Corner lot offers unique opportunity in Aspen Ridge
What do you do with a corner lot in Aspen Ridge? If you’re Red Lion Developments you pull out all the stops for an executive two-storey show home with loads of street appeal.
“We did something different on this corner lot,” says Chris Fomradas, owner of Red Lion Developments. “We stretched it all out, so it wasn’t the typical three-car garage all in front. It has a lot more street appeal than your typical house with three-car garage.”

Re: the Oct. 24 StarPhoenix regarding the Sask Power rate increase: I am against this totally — most of us are on a fixed income, which I am. I am also on EPP and paying $135 a month.

Cuthand: Public hanging led to years of repression for First Nations
Nov. 27 was the anniversary of the largest public hanging in Canada. This act of infamy took place in Battleford and was done purely out of spite to instil fear and control in our people.
The speed of the course of justice was astounding. The so-called siege of Battleford took place in late March of 1885 and the Canadian militia’s attack on Chief Poundmaker’s camp was May 2. Six months later, all the trials had concluded and the sentencing was complete.
