A 61-year-old man has died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing a street in North Battleford Saturday evening.
According to an RCMP news release, officers — assisted by firefighters and paramedics — were dispatched to the scene of the collision in the 1,600 block of 100th Street at approximately 7 p.m. after receiving reports of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
The unnamed 61-year-old man was transported to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Saskatchewan RCMP spokesman Paul Dederick confirmed that police were called around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, and that man — who has not been identified — drowned.

Townes Allen, 15, competing in go-kart world championships
Townes Allen, a 15-year-old go-kart driver from Saskatoon, is headed to Brazil with his dad and mechanic, Tom, to compete in the Junior division of the Rotax Maximum Challenge Grand Finals.
“I’ve always had the dream to want to make it there, especially since my driving coach (Scott Campbell) has actually won it … but it wasn’t until the last two years that it really started to click,” said Allen.

SGI backs away from financial penalties over vehicles stolen with keys inside
Saskatchewan Government Insurance says it’s not proposing any financial penalties against people whose vehicles are stolen with the keys left inside — for now.
Last year, the fund spoke publicly about considering insurance consequences when a vehicle is stolen under those circumstances. At the time, executive vice-president Earl Cameron acknowledged people sometimes leave their keys behind accidentally, and that this has led to a public debate.
Ultimately, SGI has shelved the idea.

Saskatoon teen headed to Brazil for go-kart world championship
