Hole: Weeding out the myths of cannabis
I’ve always been fascinated by the science of plants. It’s the main reason why I studied plant science at university.
But during those university days, I didn’t believe that cannabis would ever become legal in Canada. Cannabis was, basically, just fodder for a lot of jokes with my friends. I spent a lot of time on the science of how to kill weeds grow rather than how to grow weed.
Well, fast forward to 2018 and the legalization of adult-use cannabis has come and gone. Now, a lo -

Love of hockey lasts eight decades for Saskatoon hockey old-timers about to share Hockey Hall of Fame spotlight
Stan Halliwell may have a secret to his hockey longevity.
“I stay out of the corners, I guess,” he chuckles.
The hockey octogenarian and his colleagues have a good laugh over that one.
Halliwell — one of the founding members of Saskatoon’s 60-plus Hockey League — is still going strong at age 84.
He will be among those inducted into the Canadian 80-plus Hockey Hall of Fame on Saturday during a ceremony in Saskatoon.

Letters to the editor Nov. 3, 2018
Re: Lip sync video criticism
In a letter to the editor in the Oct. 20 StarPhoenix, we were criticized for our production of a lip sync video, saying it wasn’t the best use of time. Many of the people involved volunteered their lunch breaks, days off and even their summer holidays to participate in this. It was a phenomenal show of camaraderie not only within our police service, but as we saw from the international reaction, a source of pride for our entire city as well. Every communit -

Cuthand: Province is further hurting relationship with First Nations
Relations between the Saskatchewan government and the province’s First Nations are taking a turn for the worse and it appears to be caused by the provincial government’s approach to First Nations issues.
