Saskatchewan man no scaredy-cat during stray cat’s lofty-perch rescue
QU’APPELLE — It was all good fortune when a frightened and bewildered black cat in Qu’Appelle was lowered from a tree in which it had spent more than three days in the cold without food or the prospect of immediate rescue.
The cat was discovered earlier this week by Qu’Appelle resident Shelley Weinberger, who spotted it perched on a branch about 18 metres up.
Store-bought treats failed to tempt the stray to the ground and Weinberger had no luck finding anyone who could re -

Young Innovators: Uncovering the secret winter life of lakes
While most of nature is peacefully asleep during frigid Canadian winters, lakes are more than awake under their thick, icy covers.

“My work has debunked scientists’ assumption that lakes are dormant until spring comes,&r -

Elizabeth Marjan always wanted to own a business that had something to do with food, but it wasn’t until health concerns caused her to switch to a fully plant-based diet that the idea finally started coming together.

Letters to the editor Sept. 22, 2018
Refugees should be welcomed
Before waxing indignant about the “illegal immigrants” crossing our border, we should consider that these people are fleeing oppression, persecution, untenable situations. They have travelled thousands of kilometres, seeking asylum.
Because of Canada’s geographic isolation, we receive only a few thousand, not the millions some countries have to deal with.
To be allowed to stay in Canada, the fugitives must prove that they cannot live safely in their -

City officials, researchers monitoring feral goldfish in Saskatoon ponds
