On Saturday, the town of Nokomis unveiled corridor signs dedicated to Canadian musician and rock ‘n’ roller Kenny Shields of Streetheart fame.
“He is our small town boy,” said Bonnie Decker, the chair of the committee that raised money for and helped organize the tribute.

Corn maze mission: Youth Farm Bible camp attracts hundreds of campers every year
In 1941, a bible camp for youth was held at the Rosthern Experimental Farm site. Cost for the weekend retreat was 50 cents; campers slept in the hayloft of the dairy barn. The emphasis of the camp back then was growing in relationship with Jesus Christ. Seventy-seven years later, the camp continues, and the emphasis remains the same.
Thanks to the persistence and prayers of three Rosthern area men, J.C. Schmidt, Henry Friesen and Isaac Epp, the Rosthern Experimental Farm site was purchased in 19 -

Looking back at a summer at The StarPhoenix
When I was a kid, I always wanted to work at the Saskatoon StarPhoenix, although growing up in Regina, I don’t remember exactly how I came to that conclusion. This summer, thanks to the internship portion of the journalism program at the University of Regina, I finally had my opportunity.
I believe it can be rare to pick the right career path the first time you go to university, and even more difficult to find a job where you love every minute of it on the first day, and each day after. Fo -

Greenhouse gas emissions are not being reduced
Premier Scott Moe’s argument that the Saskatchewan government should be allowed to decide on the best path for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, without a federal carbon tax, does not hold up to scrutiny.
It’s worth remembering that the Saskatchewan Party government promised in 2009 that it would achieve a 20 per cent cut in provincewide greenhouse gas pollution levels by 2020. Nine years later Saskatchewan’s annual greenhouse gas -

Cuthand: Trans Mountain court decision a key recognition of treaty rights
It’s been described as a win for the environment, or as a blow to the economy. In the end, the B.C. Federal Court of Appeal couldn’t ignore section 35 of the Canadian constitution.
Section 35 is the clause that recognizes and affirms treaty and Aboriginal rights. This section is becoming increasingly important when it comes to resource development. It may well be the way out of our impoverished position within Canada and place us on an even playing field with the provinces.
