Letter of the Day: NHL franchise good idea for Saskatchewan
I suggest that a movement could be commenced in the province of Saskatchewan to pursue an NHL franchise in the spirit of honour, dignity, respect, and memory and with high regard for the Humboldt Broncos.

Read My Book: No-Badge Killick
I was 17 years old in the summer of 1962. I had no summer job, my high school suggested we were both wasting our time and they thought I should pursue other options. There weren’t many choices available for me but, ready for change, I jumped into the deep end and joined the Royal Canadian Navy.
No-Badge Killick is about those years. It was a journey that began as a young naive recruit and ended eight years later as a seasoned leading seaman, a submariner in Canada’s Cold War Navy.

Hilltops enter 2018 with lofty goals, as usual
The Saskatoon Hilltops enter the 2018 season atop a mountain of championship rings. They want another for the pile.
The Prairie Football Conference powerhouse has won four straight national titles, and seven over the last eight seasons. They’ve got 20, total, dating back to 1953. There’s room for another, says head coach Tom Sargeant, provided they do things the right way in 2018.

Gormley: Jordan Peterson tour impresses
“Revolution” might overstate the impact of Jordan Peterson on our modern and often precarious culture. But something’s definitely happening as the Canadian psychologist, with deep Saskatchewan roots, brought his 12 Rules of Life Tour to Regina and Saskatoon this week.

Gardening: Diversifying our urban forests — Part 1
I remember a friend reminding a judge from Communities in Bloom that “Every tree you see in Saskatoon has been planted!” This can be said for many communities across the prairies. Over several generations, we changed treeless landscapes into urban forests. We planted elm, Manitoba maple, birch, ash, poplar, flowering crabapples and chokecherry.
But with the onslaught of disease and insects on our core plantings, recent decades have seen the need for far greater diversification of spe -
Food: An easy way to make a small batch of summer jam
The bounty of fresh vegetables and fruit is non-stop right now, which means my canner is dusted off and my half pint jars are cleaned and ready to go.
Jams and jellies not only taste mighty fine, they are a fantastic way to preserve the mountain of tomatoes, onions, cherries, stone fruits, and berries you may happen to have on hand.
While preserving does take a little time, once you crack open that jar in the middle of winter, all of your hard work will be well worth it. Tasting summer while the -
Editorial: New stat holiday a chance for the country to heal
The concept of creating a new federal statutory holiday to commemorate the legacy of Canada’s residential schools on Indigenous people is well worth supporting.
