A man driving a truck on Saskatchewan’s Highway 16 when an axe smashed through the windshield escaped with minor injuries, according to RCMP. -
Axe through windshield causes minor injuries near Plunkett
A driver received minor injuries after an axe punctured their windshield while they were driving on Highway 16 earlier this month.
On May 16, at roughly 6:15 p.m., Humboldt RCMP responded to a vehicle collision near Plunkett. When officers arrived, they learned the passenger truck, which was travelling westbound, had been hit with an axe, according to a RCMP news release.

Cineplex set to open new theatre at Centre Mall in 2019
Centre Mall will soon be home to an new entertainment hub, after Cineplex announced plans to bring a large theatre complex to the Eighth Street mall.

ESTEVAN, Sask. — A Saskatchewan couple has been sentenced after admitting to their roles in a human smuggling operation involving a group of Nigerian asylum-seekers.
In a ruling brought down on Monday, a provincial court judge in Estevan ordered Victor Omoruyi of Regina to spend nine months in jail and pay a $20,000 fine.
His wife, Michelle Strawford-Omoruyi, was given a 12-month conditional sentence and a fine of $10,000.

A bitter four-month labour dispute is over after workers at 11 Saskatoon group homes for people with disabilities ratified a new contract, which includes what union officials described as a “fair” wage increase.

Man dead after vehicle-pedestrian collision on Highway 1 near Pense
One man is dead after a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian on Highway 1 two kilometres west of Pense.
According to RCMP in a news release, officers responded on Monday around 5 p.m. to the collision, where a man was declared dead at the scene.
The initial investigation determined that an eastbound truck had struck the pedestrian. The investigation was continuing with help from a collision reconstructionist.
