Andrea Lafond proved she was worth waiting for, says the chair of the Meewasin Valley Authority board.
Colin Tennent told reporters on Tuesday that Lafond was chosen to lead the MVA after more than 170 candidates applied for the permanent position.
Lafond was introduced at a news conference held in the basement of the Meewasin Valley Centre, which once served as an interpretive centre before stagnant funding forced its closure two years ago.

Andrea Lafond tapped to chart new course for Meewasin Valley Authority
Nearly one year after the Meewasin Valley Authority fired its chief executive officer, a permanent replacement has been named.
Andrea Lafond, who was formerly the vice-president of operations at the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies, was introduced Tuesday at a news conference. Lafond, a Metis woman who was born and raised in Saskatoon, replaces Lloyd Isaak, who was unexpectedly fired last May. Longtime Meewasin executive Doug Porteous had been filling in as CEO on an interim basis. -
