Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Duron Carter’s second court appearance for a marijuana possession charge ended as quickly as it began.
Carter, 27, was not present in Saskatoon provincial court on Thursday. He was represented by telephone by his Regina-based lawyer, Louis Mercier.
His next court appearance on a single count of marijuana possession is set for May 3.
Carter, who signed a one-year contract extension at the end of January, was charged on Feb. 1 after Canadian Border Security

Saskatoon is getting its first IMAX screen.
Cineplex has announced the IMAX for Scotiabank Theatre Saskatoon and VIP, opening in May.

Wood Buffalo RCMP in Alberta are searching for a sexual assault suspect who may be in the Saskatoon area.
Mounties responded to a complaint of an assault in downtown Fort McMurray on Nov. 25, 2017 between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. An adult female victim reported an alleged sexual assault occurred in her residence. Police investigating after receiving reports of a man possibly shot in Caswell Hill
The Saskatoon police Targeted Enforcement Section is investigating after officers were called to the 1000 block of Idylwyld Drive North after receiving reports of a possible shooting.
According to a police news release, officers responded to the scene just at around 5 a.m. Thursday and located a 46-year-old man outside a residence who appeared to be suffering a non-life threatening wound. Police believe a pellet gun was used in the shooting.
