Sask. Rush owner Bruce Urban willing to put up $20M for new downtown arena
In his support for a new arena in downtown Saskatoon, the owner of the Saskatchewan Rush is willing to put his money where his mouth is.
Bruce Urban, who owns the National Lacrosse League team that plays its home games at SaskTel Centre, said in an interview Tuesday that he would contribute as much as 10 per cent to the cost of a new downtown facility.
Urban estimated that would amount to about $20 million, based on a consultants’ report presented to Saskatoon city council Monday.

Lajray Gordon found guilty of manslaughter in 2016 fatal stabbing of David Merasty
After approximately 10 hours of deliberations, an 11-person jury has found Lajray Orlando Redman Gordon guilty of manslaughter in the 2016 stabbing death of David Merasty on Saskatoon’s west side.
Merasty died in hospital on June 18, 2016, about half an hour after getting into an altercation with Gordon on Avenue E South near 20th Street. Gordon was arrested and charged approximately five months after the incident.
