Romanow: At three times the price, is Dom worth it?
I can count on getting asked two questions regularly. The first is “What’s the best wine you’ve ever drunk and what did it cost?” The second is “Was it worth it?”
“Worth it” is a subjective term. I know more than a few rich red wine drinkers who spend lots of money on their favourites and view Champagne, even the prestige cuvees, as rather a waste of money and time. But the need for celebration kee -

New Faces, New Places: Barber makes friends the old-fashioned way — one haircut at a time
Eddy Mesho likes making friends.
These days, Mesho is looking for some new friends after opening his traditional barber shop last month in the city’s Broadway area.
The transplanted Mesho arrived in Saskatoon in late summer from the West Coast and knew he wanted to continue his career of cutting hair — specifically, men’s hair. He has been working in barbershops since 2003 and knows his way around a head of hair.
“I enjoy it. I still enjoy it,” says Mesho. “Th -
Mitchell: Wickenheiser, robots and an empty-netter made marks in 2017
StarPhoenix sportswriters are looking back on their coverage highlights of 2017. Today, Kevin Mitchell reflects on the year that was.
FAVOURITE STORY“Favourite” might not be the right word here, but I went to Moose Jaw and covered the last day, ever, in the history of a newsroom that was around more than a century. Memorable story: Intensely personal account of '60s Scoop reached wide audience
As 2017 came to a close, StarPhoenix staff reflected on the stories that struck a personal chord with them this year.
I awoke on the morning of Saturday, April 29, to the sound of a cell phone ding indicating an email.
It was from a woman I’d never met, and it began, “I’m on the subway in Toronto and I’m crying.”

Cuthand: Gerald Stanley's murder trial in death of Colten Boushie will have Canada's attention in 2018
Now is the time for pundits and prognosticators to sift through the ashes of the previous year, and like oracles of old, comment on the entrails. I, on the other hand, am reminded of a friend who drove an old rez truck and when the rearview mirror fell off he remarked that it was fine because he wanted to see where he was going and not where he had been.
I prefer to look at the year ahead because it should be an eventful year.
In January the trial of Gerald Stanley in the death of Colten Boushie -

Saskatoon's weather for Saturday: High -29 C
The deep freeze continues.
The forecast for today is a high of -29 C, with an extreme wind chill of -48.
Overnight tonight we can expect a low of -34, according to Environment Canada, with a wind chill of -45.
Friday’s afternoon high of -29 was a far cry from the average high for Dec. 29 of -11.3, but at least we didn’t get as low as the historical record of -41.1, reached in 1968. Or at least, as of 10 p.m. when this post was written, we hadn’t yet. We were at -34 and dropping -
