Cameco Corp. is temporarily suspending uranium production at two of its operations in northern Saskatchewan by the end of January, resulting in about 845 temporary layoffs, according to a memo sent to staff Wednesday afternoon.
A company memo obtained by the Saskatoon StarPhoenix says the affected facilities are its McArthur River mine and Key Lake mill, and 210 workers will be retained to keep the facilities in a “safe shutdown state.”
