  Northbound traffic was slow moving into the city on Highway 11 after a semi crashed into the overpass at Circle Drive East.
  Police and emergency crews responded Friday around 2 p.m. to the collision on the south side of the city.
  Debris on the highway slowed traffic, but there were no injuries, according to Saskatoon police in a news release.

  Police and emergency crews are on the scene of a collision between a semi-tractor unit and the Circle Drive East overpass  at Hwy 11, (south entrance/exit) to the city.  Northbound traffic is moving extremely slowly as there is debris on the highway.  An updated release will be issued when the scene is cleaned up and  traffic returns to normal.   Alvin Buckwold elementary school was briefly under a perimeter lockdown after a report of a firearm in the area.
  According to the information initially received by police Friday morning, a male “was driving by the victim in a truck, pointed a firearm at the victim and then fled the area in the vehicle,” Saskatoon police said in a news release.

  I agree with putting students first, but that requires additional funding — not funding cuts. This year’s provincial budget slashed $54.2 million from our 28 school divisions, a 2.6 per cent reduction over last year, or $500 less per student.
