REVIEW: Dominion puts all of Canada into one fractured house
It’s easy to think that things are pretty okay in this country until you see a play like Dominion.
Then you realize that if one segment of our home and native land is hurting, no one should be content. Saskatoon writer Andrea Ledding simplifies the complex issues surrounding colonialism by imagining the country as one house.

Cuthand: Sixties Scoop victims to be compensated
This week Canadians were introduced to a new term. After facing court action and a decision in favour of the plaintiffs in Ontario, the Federal Government has decided to compensate victims of the Sixties Scoop.
“What is the Sixties Scoop?” many Canadians asked. It’s a common term in Indian Country, but for the uninitiated it is the action taken by social workers to “scoop” children from their homes and place them with white foster families or adoptive families.

Fuller: It can’t hurt to be more careful at home
Can I learn something from my latest self-inflicted injury?
OUCH. When I went to type “self-inflicted” just now, I had to look down at my keyboard to find the hyphen key. I had to do this in slow motion because my neck is sore and looking down hurts.
So there’s a lesson right there: You should learn to touch-type so you can find the hyphen without looking for it when you do something really stupid and hurt your neck.
Oh, I’m just full of new insights this week. I now real -
Coerced sterilization lawsuit filed
Two Indigenous women who were coerced into sterilization in Saskatoon are seeking class action status for a lawsuit they’ve filed against the federal and provincial governments, 12 regional health authorities and three doctors.
The women, whose names are subject to a publication ban, are seeking at least $7 million per plaintiff in the suit; their statement of claim alleges their Charter rights were breached and that they were subjected to institutional systemic racism.

Buttermilk biscuits make fall just a little more cozy
As the autumn air gets nippy, I find myself reaching for my gloves and scarf in the morning as I head out the door and crashing through the fallen leaves on my way to the garage. Redblacks edge Roughriders in 33-32 shocker
The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ admission into the CFL post-season is on hold for at least another week.
The Riders could have clinched at least a crossover berth into the East Division playoffs with a win over the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday and a B.C. Lions loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday.
However, the Roughriders coughed up a double-digit lead and lost 33-32 on Friday night at Mosaic Stadium.

Vanstone: Roughriders faded to black against Redblacks
The Saskatchewan Roughriders went primarily with the shotgun — and aimed it at their own feet.
With shocking suddenness, the Roughriders gassed a 12-point lead in the final 2 1/2 minutes and wound up lamenting Friday’s 33-32 CFL loss to the visiting Ottawa Redblacks.
Give full credit to the Redblacks for making key plays when they were of the essence. But the visitors, who hung around long enough to cash in when it really mattered, received plenty of assistance from the all-too-chari -

REVIEW: Girl the Goldfish Bowl cast commands challenging comedic script
Audience members will find absurdity, delight, humour and moments of genuine emotion in Greystone Theatre’s The Girl in the Goldfish Bowl. The small-cast play excels with a witty script by Canadian playwright Morris Panych in its season-opening play.

Huskies' defence hopes to shake off mid-season woes

Drug trafficker Anita Favreau ran 'high-level, sophisticated' operation, Crown argues
The Crown wants an eight-year prison sentence for a Saskatchewan woman who ran a high-level drug trafficking operation, selling large amounts of methamphetamine and cocaine — and was the target of a 2015 home invasion in which a man was shot and killed.

Fond Du Lac chief seat declared vacant after voting dispute
The chief’s seat at Fond Du Lac Denesuline First Nation is now empty, after a tribunal threw out the results of last month’s election.
Louie Mercredi became chief after beating his first cousin, Kevin Mercredi, by only two votes. However, he only kept the post for a matter of weeks. His challenger argued that three votes – just enough to make the difference – may have been improperly cast.
