MOOSE JAW — A school division in southern Saskatchewan is apologizing after a handout with offensive words was mistakenly given to students.
A Thanksgiving work package supplied last week to a Grade 3 class in Moose Jaw had a word search puzzle in the shape of a teepee. It contained “squaw” and “papoose,” derogatory terms for Indigenous women and children.

Short Cuts: 10-minute play festival returns with all-SK lineup
The last two weeks at The Refinery, an arts centre often bustling with creative energy, have been particularly busy. The return of Short Cuts, the 10-minute play festival, means up to three plays are rehearsing in the space at once.
The festival’s founder Yvette Nolan said she’s seen the event evolve in several ways since it began in 2014. This year is the first to feature all Saskatchewan writers.

Rare Minglewood show features classics and new ones
Maritime rock legend Matt Minglewood is on his first western tour in almost eight years. He’s working his way out to Fort McMurray. Last summer when the community was ravaged by wildfires, Minglewood staged a fundraising concert in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
