PRINCE ALBERT — Charges are being upgraded against a man accused of abducting an eight-year-old girl from a Saskatchewan playground.
Court documents show a charge of sexual assault against Jared John Charles is being changed to aggravated sexual assault and a charge of break and enter of a dwelling house is being added. Charles, who is 19, still faces other charges that include kidnapping, forcible confinement, sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching.

A Simon Fraser University expert is calling a proposal by Saskatchewan’s Taxi Cab Association (STCA) a “damn good idea” and it’s one he says could spread to other jurisdictions.
Earlier this week, the STCA issued a release on behalf of Saskatoon’s 240 cab drivers calling for a “flex service” that would see cab drivers working out of private vehicles during peak service hours, arguing it would be a way to meet demand and improve public safety.

The Saskatoon RCMP detachment is asking for the public's help after five snowmobiles and a trailer were stolen from Axxis Motorsports Sunday night.

Early-morning fire at multi-unit residence under construction in Stonebridge
Investigators are trying to determine how a multi-unit residence under construction in Saskatoon’s Stonebridge neighbourhood caught fire early Friday morning.
Saskatoon fire received multiple 911 calls Friday around 3:40 a.m. about a blaze in the 300 block of Veltkamp Crescent. Four engine companies, one ladder truck and a rescue truck were dispatched, finding the multi-unit residence in the framing stage of construction fully engulfed, Saskatoon fire said in a news release.

Police are searching for two suspects after five Polaris snowmobiles and a trailer were stolen from a motor-sports business south of Saskatoon.

Crews handle blaze at construction site
The Saskatoon Fire Department was called out to a blaze at a construction site early Friday morning.
Firefighters arrived at 115 Veltkamp Crescent around 3:40 a.m. to find flames pouring out of the structure, an unfinished mutli-unit residential complex.
Crews got the fire was under control within about 45 minutes, with one team left behind to deal with any potential hotspots.
