PREVIEW: Julian Taylor wants a bigger bite of the big time
Julian Taylor’s first sample of show business tasted like grapes.
At summer camp, he entertained fellow campers on skit night by putting as many grapes into his mouth as he could.
“The audience loved it. They roared. It was really my first time on stage and I loved it, too.”
Taylor revisited that moment in the video for the song Coke Bottle Candy from the band’s new album Desert Star. Responding to his drummer’s dare, he put as many Coke candies into his mouth as hu -

Saskatoon's Babey lives a "life dream" through sledge hockey
Coach Ken Babey was always a standup guy when it came to hockey.
He’s since discovered there’s more than one way to play the game — standup hockey, as they call it, is just one version — which is why he speaks so passionately about the Paralympics staple of sledge hockey.
“I was amazed about the physicality of the game,” says Babey, who coached the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology men’s hockey team for 27 years before taking head-coaching d -

Good and bad debt
Canadians today are carrying more debt than previous generations. Some debt is good debt. Other debt is bad. Then there is ugly debt.
Good debt
Good debt helps you to purchase a home or a vehicle or investments. Business loans and education loans that help you increase your income are good, too. The majority of Canadian debt is good debt.
Of course, you should have a strategy to repay even good loans in full — either during the life of the asset or by the time you retire.

PLAY REVIEW: Who’s Afraid of Chris Jones?
The curtain opened on a disappointing night for the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who lost 17-16 to the Montreal Alouettes in front of a small audience at Percival Molson Theatre on Thursday.
The plot was interesting, though not terribly original — the story of a coach who underestimates his quarterback, insults him and trades him to another -

'It's a living hell': Problems with neighbours in illegal suite are escalating, Saskatoon man says

He’s too afraid to sleep after his house has been repeatedly vandalized, broken into, and robbed, the 50-year-old said in an interview on Friday.
“It’s a living hell,” he said. “I fight the same battle as everybody else here … and we’re the ones getting called names and -
Cuthand: Reconciliation is not enough to create change in Sask
Once again Aboriginal Day has come and gone and things in Saskatchewan can go back to the lopsided existence we regard as normal.
It seems that our people are always reaching out and making efforts to foster inclusion. When our people first began the urban migration, each major city in Canada developed a friendship centre. The object of these institutions was to welcome aboriginal people and create a safe space to go and integrate into the city. The concept behind the friendship centres was that -
Camp Oshkidee is unique for focusing solely on families
In the 1960s, Saskatoon physician Dr. Henry Block was instrumental in establishing Camp Oshkidee on Jeannette Lake about 40 minutes north of Meadow lake.

The Brigade’s stringent conservation practices, that always left its camping sites in better condition than they were found, tipped the scale when Parks and Conse -

Marshall makes most of main stage jazz fest show
Amanda Marshall hasn’t released album since 2001. She doesn’t have a Twitter account, a Facebook page or a website. But based on her performance Friday night at the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, the only reasonable explanation for her absence is that she’s been cryogenically frozen for the last 16 years. She looks and sounds exactly the same. Her concert was a 1995 dream come true. And damn, did those songs hold up.
Accompanied by a seven-piece band, the Canadian singer-s -
