via cbc.ca
Cardboard makes a soft bed, tinned food is no good without a can-opener, hail isn't a novelty when you're homeless, and the public might avoid eye contact with you. These are some of the lessons learned by a group of Saskatoon celebrities who spent 36 hours on the street for the Sanctum Survivor challenge. -

Tent caterpillars invade another home off Highway 11
Just about ten kilometres south of Saskatoon a new neighbourhood off Highway 11 is infested with tent caterpillars.
Christine Roesler estimates there are millions covering her home.
"Our whole house now is kind of stained orange especially in the high-density areas," she told 650 CKOM Saturday. "It smells awful especially in the corners where they really like to go for the shade."
A video she posted on social media over the weekend shows just how bad it is, bugs piled on the ground, up the corne -

Jim Hole: Hanging baskets are easy to take care of and add beauty to any yard
If I had to choose but one ‘flowery’ item that provides the biggest bang for the loonie, it would be a hanging basket.
Whether it’s spilling with gorgeous flowers or dripping with delicious cherry tomatoes, hanging baskets instantaneously transform a barren spot into a luscious, eye level oasis.
But while hanging baskets always look great the moment they are hung, keeping them in great shape can be a challenge for some gardeners. The ‘secret’ to healthy -

Renee Kohlman: One-pan salmon and vegs make life easy
These are the days of busy evenings, be it with the kids and their ball games after dinner or digging in the dirt planting the vegetables you hope to harvest later this summer.
Or maybe you’re like me and just like to sit outside on the patio, sipping something cool and enjoying the trees as they sway to-and-fro, the sweet fragrance of lilacs hanging in the air. Then the neighbour dog’s incessant barking breaks your reverie and you go inside to do the dishes.

Mission Potluck is the hilarious true story of Lutheran fundraising efforts in the 1920s
Mission Potluck is coming to Saskatoon.
A mix of comedy, music and poetic monologue, Mission Potluck is a stage play that tells the story of a 1920s Lutheran Ladies League and its ill-fated fundraising efforts. The ensemble piece was inspired by the true story of First Lutheran Winnipeg’s fundraising efforts in the early part of the century to build the first seniors’ home in Gimli, Man.
Created by One Trunk Theatre, the play was uniquely crafted for prairie viewers and gives the aud -
Wine of the Week: If only there were one Chardonnay to unite them all
If you find yourself at a party full of winos and you feel the conversation is getting dull, toss out an opinion on Chardonnay and watch what happens.
I don’t know of any other grape as contentious. There are supporters of the 1990s style — “Buttery!” embroidered on their banner held high. Then there are their direct opponents, the stainless steel-only crowd. And of course the fans of Chablis. “Where’s the mineral in that?” they cry as they spit some poo -
