Boswell: Let's get OC Transpo working for its passengers again
I’ve taken OC Transpo my entire life; my family didn’t have a car for much of my childhood and my husband and I still don’t have a car now. I’m an avid transit user and I remember what Ottawa’s transit system looked like when it worked.
I remember when you could look at a paper schedule and bet on a bus arriving within a few minutes of that time. I bused to junior high, high school, university and a whole range of jobs and I was rarely late because the buses were mo -
Powerful drug carfentanil detected at supervised consumption site
Potentially-deadly carfentanil was detected Wednesday in the street drug known as “blue fentanyl” in testing at the Sandy Hill Community Health Centre.
Rob Boyd, director of the Oasis program at the centre, warned drug users via Twitter to use drugs at supervised consumption sites and not alone, to avoid mixing drugs and to carry opioid antidote naloxone.
Carfentanil was previously found in a rock of crack cocaine tested by the health centre last summer.

The future of food delivery in Ottawa: Why Uber Eats and SkipTheDishes are a 'necessary evil' for some restaurants
On a recent Sunday morning at Kettleman’s Bagel Company in the Glebe, business was unrelenting.
During the blur between breakfast and lunch, most of the eatery’s tables were filled with diners. The line-up of new arrivals, which stretched from the front door to the cash, never seemed to shorten. For a dozen or so deli staffers, it was all hands on deck to expedite bagels, pastries, coffees and juices to a steady stream of customers.
However, the most harried-looking Kettleman’s -
Charlebois: Some Métro stores allow reusable containers. Good for them
The Metro family of grocery stores announced recently that it would become the first major grocery store chain in the country to allow customers to bring their own reusable containers for packaging. The policy only applies in the province of Quebec and it took effect on April 22. Even though other grocers are likely to make similar announcements soon, this is a benchmark policy that clearly sets a precedent. A good decision from the Quebec-based grocer, but such an approach does come with its sh -

MacDougall: Headwinds, headaches on the road to Trudeau’s re-election
Six months out from an election is usually when an incumbent party at the helm of a first-term majority government is setting the table for its re-election.
There is action on all fronts: one or two people-pleasing bills left to pass in the House of Commons and Senate; a raft of policies to finalize for the next platform; more star candidates to recruit to carry the banner; and one maturing leader to prep for another campaign.
It is a time of industry and focus.
For Justin Trudeau and his Libera -
