  • Man, 29, charged, female victim, 54, identified in Vanier homicide

    The Ottawa Police Service Major Crime Section has charged Jed Ootoova, a 29 year-old man, in relation to the homicide of Abigail Ootoova, aged 54.
    This is  the second homicide in 2019 on Jolliet Avenue in Vanier.
    Police found the body of Abigail Ootoova around 5 p.m. Saturday. The man, believed to be the woman’s son, called 911 and was arrested at the scene. He remained in custody Saturday night.
    Jed Ootoova has been charged with 2nd degree murder.

    Kyungja Hwang had been reported missing after being last seen around lunchtime Saturday in the area of Stoneway Drive and Woodroffe Avenue.
    Hwang’s family had been concerned for her safety, Ottawa Police Service said in a media release issued Saturday evening.
