Only two days before Ottawa’s first three legal cannabis shops were set to open, about 30 people attended an town hall about a new pot shop in Wellington West.
Superette, which has a sales floor of approximately 2,400 square feet, has set up shop in the ground floor of a five-storey building at 1306 Wellington St. W., near Warren Avenue.
The shop will open Monday at 10 a.m., as will Fire & Flower York Street Cannabis in the ByWard Market and Hobo Recreational Cannabis Store on Bank Str

Another season of the pothole is upon us
As the glacier that blankets Ottawa in winter slowly recedes, it exposes the city’s principal crop … potholes.
We must live in the only city in the world where driving in a straight line is prima facie evidence of impairment. As we drove around the capital, a recent visitor from overseas asked, in all seriousness, if we had suffered an earthquake.
I have three questions for the mayor and his staff at city Hall.

Downtown Perth evacuated after crash causes gas leak
One person was flown by air ambulance to Ottawa and part of downtown Perth was evacuated Friday afternoon after a vehicle struck a building, causing a gas leak.
By Friday evening, the gas leak at Gore and Herriott streets had been sealed, but evacuations remained in place and emergency services were monitoring gas density in the area, Ontario Provincial Police said.
