Last week, the provincial government announced that secondary school students will be required to take four out of the 30 high school credits required for an Ontario high school diploma as online courses.

A House of Commons committee set up a special meeting to discuss whether to cut down a mature elm tree on Parliament Hill, but the meeting was cancelled for lack of a quorum.
MPs were busy dealing with the federal budget Thursday.
That means the Procedure and House Affairs Committee will get another chance to discuss the issue on April 2.

Three Gatineau men with gang connections were arrested in a series of drug raids raids at five homes and a storage facility in the city Thursday morning.
Gatineau police said the arrests began at 4 a.m. and concluded at about 10 a.m.
Police seized 651 grams of cocaine, 15 grams of crack cocaine, as well as an air pistol and Taser-like weapon, a hydraulic press, drug gear, $6,745 in cash and 22 cellphones.

A back-to-school blitz by Ottawa traffic officers has so far netted one driver going double the speed limit and another who really shouldn’t need the schooling.
“Seems even some school bus drivers need to be educated during this week’s back to school blitz,” Const. Jon Hall noted dryly in a tweet Wednesday.
