Outgoing police Chief Charles Bordeleau drove the lead vehicle, a shamrock festooned green-and-white SUV cruiser.

City would ask court to confirm agreement to protect Kanata golf course land
The City of Ottawa would ask the courts to make sure a legacy agreement to protect a Kanata golf course is ironclad, according to the city’s legal department.
Kanata North Coun. Jenna Sudds on Friday posted on her website a much-anticipated letter from a city lawyer, confirming the city would stick up for the “40 per cent agreement” protecting green space in the Kanata Lakes area.
The Kanata Golf and Country Club is considered part of that green space but the golf course owner, -

MacDougall: Will Liberals define themselves by what they despise?
What if Stephen Harper had done it?
It’s the question principled Liberals ought to be asking on SNC-Lavalin, but aren’t. And the Liberals are avoiding it because they know what the answer to that question would be, and they don’t like what it would say about Justin Trudeau’s conduct.
Of coursethe Liberals would be braying for Harper’s head had he done something comparable, say, for a large oil & gas multinational headquartered in Calgary. Following a -

A formula for math success
Re: New Ontario math curriculum goes back to the basics, March 13.
As a retired math teacher and tutor, I welcome the news that Ontario students will be returning to a tried-and-true formula for math success. I have long advocated for this because I see the damage that has been done to high school math students. A strong basic foundation is necessary for understanding and achievement at a higher level. Finally, one plus one equals two.

Nussbaum: Public input will be key to developing LeBreton Flats
The development potential of LeBreton Flats is undeniable. We have an unprecedented opportunity to create a dynamic, thriving, connected and sustainable new community, as well as a visionary destination in the heart of the nation’s capital — a chance to build something great, and to build it together.

Lightburn: How government can help drive more electric vehicle use
With the federal budget around the corner, the wishlist for policies that support climate action is high. On that list is getting electric vehicles rolling.
Canada has made strong commitments: to reach 10 per cent zero-emission vehicle sales by 2025, 30 per cent by 2030 and 100 per cent by 2040. But there’s a long way to go. Just 2.5 per cent of total vehicle sales last year were for electrics. Canada has fewer EVs on the road than smaller countries such as Norway, Belgium and the Netherla -
Editorial: To teach math better, Ontario must train teachers better
There is nothing horribly wrong with the Ontario government’s plan to revise how mathematics is taught; educators and parents have long been alarmed over the shaky fundamental math skills of elementary students. Although public schools have never deviated from their goal of ensuring children learn the basics, the pressure to do better has been strong.
Yet the changes announced Friday miss two deeper problems – one the government can fix over time, and one the rest of us must tackle. -
