MacDonald and Ashe: Here's what feminist governance looks like
As Canadians continue to debate the implications of the SNC-Lavalin affair, one thing is clear. Canada does have a feminist leader who is doing politics differently. Her name is Jody Wilson-Raybould. And now, in an act of unprecedented solidarity, Jane Philpott has resigned from cabinet in support of Wilson-Raybould and her defence of the rule of law. This is what game-changing feminist governance looks like.
Justin Trudeau promised “real change” and to “do politics differently -

Last Friday morning, while he was in Chicago for a short vacation, Arup Jana was awakened by a tumult of texts.

Soon enough, Jana learned that his business, which he opened in 2004, had been devastated by a fire that began in the wee hours Friday morning. Neighbours called 911 at 2:3 -

Cohen: Philpott, Wilson-Raybould have put their achievements at risk
What was Jody Wilson-Raybould thinking when she left cabinet?
If the answer is clear, the cost is not. Wilson-Raybould had to leave a government that had put “inappropriate” pressure on her as minister of justice. In her j’accuse, she airily invoked Watergate and the Saturday Night Massacre.
“I am a truth-teller,” she declares, claiming a monopoly on truth, even if her truth brings down her government.

Khan: How Justin Trudeau just proved the existence of white privilege
It is both ironic and tragic that an Indigenous woman, representing two causes Prime Minister Trudeau has supposedly championed, has initiated his fall from grace.
Jody Wilson-Raybould’s testimony to the House of Commons Justice Commission exposed the many failings of high power. But perhaps the most incriminating of these is what many white people see as a “myth”: white privilege.
It has reared its head in all its unsavoury glory, whether we like to admit it or not.

Police arrived at the downtown residence at about 1:30 p.m. A man wanted police to warn his neighbour to stay away from his home.
Officers spoke to the neighbour who agreed not to return but while they were there, the neighbour’s parents confided that they were worried by his behaviour and both -

Traffic: Clear, dry in the capital, but watch for snow squalls on Hwy 401
We could get used to these clear, dry roads!
Tuesday’s trip to work is — so far — trouble-free.
OC Transpo had about three dozen cancelled trips by 8:15 a.m.
Expect snarls at Jeanne d’Arc and Orléans boulevards where traffic signals are not working, the city’s traffic centre warned. It was cleared just before 9 a.m.
But watch out for some snags outside the city.

Flurries Tuesday, but you can see spring in the distance
Look at it this way: Get through Tuesday and you’re looking at spring.
Almost.
Just one more sleep and then it’ll be sunny for a while.

Here's when spring is expected to arrive in Ottawa
Days are getting long and the sky is turning deeper blue, but Eastern Ontario is locked into at least a week of unseasonably cold weather before it will start to feel like spring.

Ottawa’s long-term average temperatures for this time of year are a high of 0 and a low of -9.
But the reality this week is much colder: highs ranging from a stingy -11 on Tuesday to -3 by -
Today's letters: Should we approve LRT Phase 2 this week?
Let’s see LRT Phase 1 in action first
Re: Stage 2 LRT deadline arriving in a rush, March 4.
We have no idea at this point whether Phase 1 of the LRT will work reliably in the winter, nor what the costs might be to make it work reliably, and who will end up paying those costs. Meanwhile, city council is being pressured to approve the $4.7-billion LRT Phase 2 expansion.
Before taking on a huge new contractual obligation for LRT Phase 2, the city should insist on seeing Phase 1 operate smooth -
