  Police responded to several collisions early Sunday as freezing rain coated the city ahead of a storm that will see rollercoaster temperatures, high winds and, eventually, blowing snow.
  Ottawa police services closed the intersection of Robertson and Eagleson Roads at around noon on Sunday due to a collision, and asked that the public try to find alternate routes.

  Police have laid charges in the homicide of Gaetan Jolin who was found badly injured in his Jolliet Avenue apartment last week after an assault.
  Michael Leduc, 43, has been charged with second degree murder in Jolin’s death.
  Leduc appeared in court Sunday and remains in custody.
  Jolin, 55, was discovered in medical distress in his Vanier apartment by a friend on Wednesday. He was transferred to hospital where he died 14 hours later.

  AWKESASNE — The Mohawk Council of Akwesasne is pleading for calm after a protest in front of the community’s Mohawk Police Service headquarters became violent on Friday night, resulting in a police SUV being stolen and set on fire.

  The Ottawa police have charged four people with multiple drug offences after a raid Friday at a Vanier property that has been the subject of community complaints and was the site of a recent shooting.
  The tactical unit executed warrants and entered the property on the 200 block of St-Jacques Street on Friday evening. It found cocaine, numerous hydromophone pills, codeine, crack cocaine and Canadian currency, according to a release issued Saturday.
