Hillier ousted from caucus during emotionally charged day at Queen's Park
Randy Hillier was suspended from the Progressive Conservative caucus Wednesday after making comments deemed by Premier Doug Ford as “disrespectful to the parents of children with autism.”
The incident, which Hillier is characterizing as a misunderstanding, came on a day when dozens of emotional parents jammed visitors’ galleries at the Ontario Legislature on a file that has left the government visibly scrambling. One MPP said security guards were delivering tissues to crying pa -

St. John’s-based pianist Florian Hoefner seems determined to reveal a different facet of his jazz artistry each time he visits Ottawa.

What should Andrew Scheer do with his sudden good political fortune?
The second week in February was likely a time Andrew Scheer’s Conservatives were least expecting a Christmas gift.
But during a typical, frigid week in Ottawa and a somewhat quiet time in federal politics, with the House of Commons on break, the Prime Minister’s Office handed the Scheer Tories a shiny scandal.
Jody Wilson-Raybould, once held up by the Liberals as a symbol of diversity – she was Canada’s first Indigenous justice minister – has quickly become a thorn -

House Works: Why we all need to become a little bored to get creative
When my wife and I moved one of our sons into university this past September, I couldn’t help but notice all the posters around campus advertising free help for mental issues. Not that I was surprised.
As the years roll along I hear about more and more young people with debilitating depression or paralyzing anxiety. I’m convinced there’s an increase in this sort of trouble, and I don’t buy the argument that “we’re just more aware” these days.
The big que -
Glavin: There'll always be an England? Amid political chaos, maybe not
“If this long island story of ours is to end at last, let it end only when each one of us lies choking in his own blood upon the ground.”
That was the clinching rallying cry of a thundering oration Winston Churchill let fly at his wavering and whimpering cabinet on May 28, 1940. He’d been Britain’s wartime prime minister for only 18 days. On the French coast, at Dunkirk, a vast fleet of English boats of every description was in the midst of an ignominious evacuation of mo -
