It was a pleasant day Saturday with the sun warm on people’s faces, a good day to be outside despite some north wind.

The firefighters have been called out to more than a dozen homes where carbon monoxide detectors has sounded off for this reason.

Moe Boushey: 1937-2018: "He always said, 'I’ll take care of you,' and he always did'
There’s a big hole on Elgin Street these days.
It has nothing to do with the roadwork that’s going on. It’s centered just south, at the intersection with Waverley Street, where a Quickie convenience store now sits.
From the end of the Second World War until it closed in 2016, that corner was home to Boushey’s Fruit Mart, where seven decades of customers bought groceries, flowers and gift baskets, or just visited and chatted with generations of Bousheys who made the place -

Today's letters: On snow storms – and potential snow jobs
Sometimes, snowstorms bring out the best in us
Re: ‘Much too much’ snow makes mess of travel, Feb. 13.
As I was shovelling my driveway Wednesday morning, a police car pulled up at the snow bank. I guess I looked pathetic, a grey-haired woman with a small shovel (it’s all I can lift) trying to move mountains of snow – kind of like trying to empty Lake Ontario with a teaspoon. The officer offered to help.
She moved great quantities of snow in a short time. Her physical help -
Editorial: The deeper the hole … the SNC-Lavalin affair gets messier
Two things are true of government. First, the larger it grows, the more opportunities arise for incompetence, incoherence or abuse of power.
