  The beloved Rideau Canal Skateway will be open for business Sunday morning at 8 a.m.
  The NCC announced a 2.7-kilometre stretch of the iconic attraction will be available, between the Bank Street and Pretoria bridges and including the the Patterson Creek arm.
  The weather is looking pretty skate-friendly, opening with a mix of sun and cloud, becoming cloudier in the afternoon with a 60 per cent chance of flurries.

  Two men face charges after a “high-risk arrest” on downtown Nepean Street Friday night resulted in the seizure of a loaded shotgun, as well as a large quantity of drugs and other weapons.
  Following an investigation by the Ottawa police drug unit, anti-gang officers conducted the raid at about 9 p.m.

  G. Stuart Adam, who spent almost 60 years at Carleton University, arrived as an undergraduate in 1959 and was a professor emeritus at the time of his death last week.
  Adam had been director of the School of Journalism and Communication, dean of arts, provost and vice-president academic. Respected by colleagues and students, Adam was well-known as a scholar and one of Canada’s leading journalistic minds. He died Dec. 26 of the complications of a brain tumour.  Adam was 79.
