  In October, the Canadian government sent out its draft request for proposals to aerospace firms expected to bid on replacing the CF-18 fighter jets.
  The aircraft that are being considered in this competition are Lockheed Martin’s F-35, the Eurofighter Typhoon, Saab’s Gripen and the Boeing Super Hornet.
  The aerospace companies will provide feedback on the draft request for proposals and after that is received the final RFP will be issued and bids required by May 2019.

  A Mississauga man was arrested at the Prescott border crossing Wednesday by Canada Border Services officers after allegedly making numerous threats, including one on Christmas Day, to an ex-girlfriend living in Kingston.
  The 27-year-old man, who lives in Mississauga and whose name was not released by Kingston police, was charged with assault, two counts of uttering death threats, harassment by repeated communication, publishing intimate images without consent, and breach of release conditions.

  Ottawa police have arrested a man suspected of committing a series of similar robberies since mid-December.
  Kamalpreet Brar, 34, was arrested on Christmas Day in connection with a store robbery that day on Poulin Avenue. According to police, a man entered the store, produced a knife and demanded money.
