A former doctor who pleaded guilty to secretly videotaping patients during medical exams and sexually assaulting them at a University of Ottawa health clinic has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
Vincent Nadon, who lives in Chelsea, was given the sentence on Wednesday after the court heard emotional statements from nearly a dozen of his victims.
There were 49 victims in all over a span of 28 years.
The charges relate to videos Nadon surreptitiously made of 38 patients during medical exams

City says LRT delay will save nearly $1M — if the contract holds up
The city is telling council members that it stands to save nearly $1 million on delaying the Confederation Line LRT about 10 months.
It’s an optimistic estimate, though, since the grand tally of extra costs and savings related to the delay depends on the city’s reading of its $2.1-billion construction contract with the Rideau Transit Group.
City council on Wednesday received a summary of the financial implications of the delay in a memo from corporate services general manager Marian -

Ottawa condo prices all over the map in November while house prices slow
At first glance, Ottawa’s resale market for condominiums looked to be on fire in November. The average price for condos sold across the city jumped 11.1 per cent year-over-year to $285,800 on average, according to data compiled by the Ottawa Real Estate Board, based on the activity of 3,000 sales agents.
In sharp contrast, the average price for single family homes sold in November was $429,000 — up just 2.6 per cent from a year earlier.
However, it turns out the mini-surge in condo p -

'Are we ready?': Canada and the world have work to do before next pandemic, say experts
One hundred years after the deadly Spanish flu killed tens of millions of people around the world, the conditions are ripe for another severe flu pandemic, say experts, and Canada is not as ready as it needs to be.
Canada is not alone. At the biannual Canadian Immunization Conference, being held in Ottawa this week, delegates heard from a leading international expert who warned that more work needs to be done globally before the next severe pandemic.
A focus of the conference was on the Spanish -

The abandoned cemetery that came back to life in Gatineau
It was a cold, rainy weekend in 2013 when a group of volunteers started reclaiming an abandoned family cemetery in north-end Gatineau from choking undergrowth and litter.
The workers didn’t even know whose cemetery it was. There was no sign, and the gravestones gave little information beyond names and dates of people buried from the early 1800s to the mid-1900s. Barbers, Langfords, Frasers, Davidsons, Kerrs.
