  One man has been charged after a woman died in a dramatic single-vehicle crash Saturday on eastbound Highway 401 near Montreal Street in Kingston.
  Police arrived on the scene at about 7:30 a.m. and found a minivan had driven off the road, went through a guardrail and hit a rock face.

  A new trial has been ordered for a former Ontario Hockey League billet and Kingston school teacher accused of sex crimes against children.
  Neil Joynt, 77, was convicted in Napanee of two counts of indecent assault in October 2016 and sentenced to eight months in prison.
  The charges allegedly occurred in the 1960s and ’70s at Joynt’s parents’ Battersea home and on a camping trip near Big Rideau Lake and involved two boys who were not hockey players.

  A preventive boil water advisory has been lifted in the Buckingham sector of Gatineau.
  The advisory had been declared earlier in the week while watermain repairs were being carried out.
  Inspectors have verified the water’s safety and residents are advised to open all faucets and let the water run for a minute or until it turns cold before using it.
  The same procedure must be followed for the fountains and the ice to be discarded during the notice period.

  One person is confirmed dead and at least five people are injured in a crash on Highway 401 near Montreal Street in Kingston Saturday morning.
  The crash occurred at about 9 a.m. when an eastbound minivan left the highway, crashed through a guardrail and hit a rock face.
  Although it’s not known how many people were in the vehicle, there were a half-dozen paramedic ambulances at the scene.
  The eastbound Highway 401 is expected to be closed for several hours while the investigation goes on.

  About six people were forced out of their homes after fire struck at a Gatineau apartment building early Saturday.
  Firefighters were called to the two-unit residence on Graham Street in the Hull sector 3:25 a.m..
  The residents had managed to leave the building on their own.
  Gatineau firefighters said the fire originated in a ground-floor bedroom. It was declared under control just before 5 a.m.
