  Ottawa police major crime investigators continue to appeal for any information that could help detectives find Nakayla Baskin, an 11-year-old girl who’s been missing for more than two weeks.

  Russell County OPP have released a sketch of a suspect in their probe of two incidents in which a stranger tried to pick up a child.
  The first incident happened at about 5 p.m. Sept. 4 when the man tried to pick up a child at a local day care. According to police, the man referred to the child by their first name, but could not provide their last name.   Disgraced elementary teacher Kyla Cowan-Wilson will spend her first night behind bars on Friday when she begins serving the first weekend of her 90-day jail sentence for having sexual encounters with one of her students.

  A Barrhaven man says he was celebrating Thanksgiving with a dozen family members Monday when a frantic young man pounded on his door with grim news.
  Addison Esbit told the Citizen the young man was begging for help, saying he had just run over his friend with a piece of heavy machinery.

  A Dow’s Lake-area apartment building, and some homes to the south it, were evacuated Tuesday morning after a gas line in the basement leaked a large volume of gas Tuesday morning.
