Egan: Couple spends more than $100K to create children's nature centre — township calls it illegal
PERTH — At Blueberry Creek Forest School and Nature Centre, there are winding paths and drooping willows, hand-built tugboat forts, gardens and shy rabbits, masterful split-rail fences and exotic chickens who will cradle in your arms.
And trouble, the unnatural kind only humans can make.
Blueberry Creek is the brain child of Robyn Mulcahy, a Perth resident, mother of five and wife of Lanark-area MP Scott Reid — a not-incidental part of the messy story.
Robyn Mulcahy has been fighting -

Westbound Queensway traffic stalls as two tractor trailers collide
Westbound traffic on the Highway 417 was severely affected Wednesday when two tractor trailers collided on the busy expressway near Bronson Avenue.
First responders on the scene at about 2:30 p.m. indicated there were no injuries.
But traffic backed up for more than a kilometre as crews worked to untangle the mess before the rush hour.
Eastbound traffic was also slow as drivers paused to gaze on the scene.
Ottawa police, fire, paramedics and OPP were all at the scene.
More to come.

Paramedics said they were called to the scene at 11:47 a.m. and treated a young girl for a minor arm injury. She did not need to go to the hospital.

Glavin: Immigration issues likely to dominate next federal election campaign
This is a hell of a way to kick off a federal election campaign.
You could say it started at a press conference Wednesday morning in Ottawa — with Opposition immigration critic Michelle Rempel and her fellow Conservative, Treasury Board critic Gerard Deltell — during which failed Conservative leadership candidate Maxime Bernier was traduced almost as vigorously as Justin Trudeau’s Liberals were. Pot becomes legal across Canada October 17, 2018.
But things are a bit more complicated in Ontario, where the provincial government recently announced private stores in Ontario will be allowed to sell cannabis, a sharp U-turn from the direction of the previous government, to keep the sale of legal pot to government stores.
With only about eight weeks to go until L-Day, many questions remain up in the air.
