More than 20 per cent of criminal cases in Ottawa are at risk of breaching Supreme Court limits on “unreasonable delay” two years after the Jordan decision set new standards for swift justice.
Provincial statistics show that, at the end of March, 1,073 cases were in the judicial system for 15 months or more at the Ottawa courthouse.
That number is virtually unchanged from late 2016, when the province first began to wrestle with the fallout from the Supreme Court decision in R. v. Jor

Major news – looks like ON is scrapping the plan to have only government #cannabis stores and will allow private retail. Huge progress in the right direction if this -

Adam: How Clive Doucet could change Ottawa's mayoralty race
In the 2010 mayoral race, Clive Doucet was described in the Citizen as having run “arguably the most passionate visionary campaign.” Alas, his campaign of ideas was not enough. It captured the imagination but not votes.
He lost because people don’t necessarily vote for the candidate with the best ideas or best plan. They often vote for the candidate they are most comfortable with, and Jim Watson ended up winning, ahead of incumbent Larry O’Brien and Doucet.
But out of the -

House Works: Your questions on building on bedrock, deck stripping, lichen removal
Tips for building on bedrock
Q: Should I spray foam directly on the bedrock in the crawlspace under the house I’m building or put crushed stone on the rock before spraying?
A: If you want to avoid grievous moisture problems, you need to back up with your planning. Building on bedrock is trickier than it looks. There are two difficulties— the cooling action of the rock that’ll cause condensation and sky-high crawlspace humidity in the summer, and the tendency for liquid water to -
