  Robert James Miller, a long-established criminal lawyer with offices in L’Orignal and Cornwall, has been accused of billing legal aid for trials that never happened.
  Miller, according to the Law Society of Ontario, is accused of overbilling legal aid by $214,000.

  Richard Khan, who was facing multiple counts of drug trafficking, decided last week to throw himself upon the mercy of the court.
  Afterall, the court, at least in Ottawa, has been increasingly merciful toward people such as Khan who have been arrested while working at illegal marijuana dispensaries.
  Khan joined a growing number of dispensary “budtenders” who have pleaded guilty and gambled they won’t end up with a criminal record.

  The Office of the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) – a U.S. government watchdog agency – recently released a review of the construction of a 233-kilometer segment of Afghanistan’s Ring Road between Qeysar and Laman. The Ring Road was seen as key to helping Afghanistan develop.   Three people were extricated from two vehicles after a collision on Shaw Road in Arnprior early Sunday morning.
  Ottawa Fire Services responded to a two-vehicle crash reported at 7:34 a.m. The head-on collision at Shaw Road and Ottawa Road 29 required extrication of one person from one vehicle and two persons in the second vehicle. The Ottawa Paramedic Service could only say that the patients they transported were in “stable” condition.

  Three people were taken to hospital — one in critical condition — from the Escapade Music Festival to be treated for overdoses on Saturday, only two days after the Ottawa Paramedic Service had issued a blunt warning about drug use.
