A 24-year-old Ottawa man has been arrested on drug trafficking charges after police found just more than $400 worth of cocaine in a Vanier home.
Leopold St Juste was arrested last Friday after a two-week-long investigation by the guns and gangs unit of the Ottawa police found 4.1 grams of cocaine, which they noted in a press release had a street value of $410 dollars.
According to the police, the cocaine had been separated into 14 small bags.

The application for a peace bond, sworn in front of Justice of the Peace Louise Logue on May 4, alleges that Monika Caryk, Hoffman’s partner, had threatened Melinda (neé Currey) and husband Erik Karlsson f -

Murder victim's son bemoans father's fate
The son of murder victim Raymond Collison has called the long-awaited arrest of a suspect in the case “a bitter victory.”
Tim Collison said his father’s violent death — one in a string of unsolved homicides in and around the small town of Morewood — has caused him enormous pain.
“I miss my dad with all my heart and soul and the fact that my son never got the chance to meet his grandpa hurts deeply,” Collison, of Cornwall, said in an email exchange with t -
Reevely: Latest plans for Château Laurier finally clear the lowest bar
The latest plans for an addition to the Château Laurier would have been a good starting point. They can’t be the end.
Two years after throwing up a first proposal that practically everyone panned, Larco Investments finally has a proposal that looks as though it was done up by someone who’s at last seen the Château Laurier before.
The latest proposal is smaller, so from Major’s Hill Park it looks less like a determined attempt to hide the original hotel. Larco’ -

Angry driver runs down skateboarder on sidewalk: Kingston police
Not content with confining his rage to the road, an unlicensed motorist sped through a busy parking lot to run down a skateboarder on a Kingston sidewalk, police allege.
The 29-year-old is now charged with assault with a weapon: his vehicle.
Police report that the victim was skateboarding on Weller Avenue near Compton Street about 3 p.m. last Thursday when the motorist drove by and yelled at him. The driver then did a U-turn and pursued the skateboarder, who ditched his board and fled on foot, i -
Council decision on Château Laurier addition will be based on rules, not feelings
Ottawa city council’s decision on the controversial Château Laurier addition will come down to how the proposal stacks up against the rules, not the feelings of average citizens.
Coun. Tobi Nussbaum, chair of the built-heritage subcommittee, said the city’s challenge is making sure the public understands the frame through which the decision-making bodies need to view the application.
“We’re not judging it on the basis of what we like or not,” Nussbaum said Tue -
Ottawa's municipal races shaping up
With the provincial election firmly in the rear-view mirror, attention now shifts to October’s municipal race.
Mayor Jim Watson and two-thirds of the 23-member council have already filed the necessary paperwork to stand for re-election, while several others have confirmed they intend to run and will register soon.
Veteran councillors who chair the city’s planning, transit, transportation, and community and protective services committees have all thrown their hats in the ring. So too -

Col. Jay Janzen is being promoted to brigadier general to take over from Brig.-Gen. Marc Thériault, the former head of Canadian Forces Public Affairs.

Cohen: Against Trump, Canada never had a chance
WASHINGTON – It had to come to this. Given the man and his methods, is it any surprise?
We hoped otherwise, that with goodwill, generosity and forbearance – as well as commerce, history and geography – we could come to an understanding with Donald J. Trump.
We tolerated his fears and his facts. We ignored his assault on the liberal international order: his resentment of NATO, his withdrawal from the Paris Agreement, the Trans-Pacific Partnership and the Iranian nuclear deal. We -
Gordon Ritchie: The world can still defend free trade – but it won't be easy
It would be a mistake to dismiss the latest protectionist actions by the Trump administration as cheap bullying tactics and wait for common sense to prevail. Setting aside the buffoonery, in less than 18 months Trump and the like-minded team he has painfully assembled have made substantial strides toward dismantling the world liberal economic order his predecessors painstakingly built over the past 70 years.
Looking back, it is quite remarkable that amid the ruins of the Second World war a group -

'Hangry' customer calls 911 on tardy pizza order
You’re not your best self when you’re hungry, we can only hope.
Leeds OPP reports that a 32-year-old woman called 911 from an Elgin pizza parlour Monday night when her order wasn’t ready.
The “hangry” woman was waiting with her son in her car to “explain her dissatisfaction with the restaurant” after calling police to the village about 100 km southwest of Ottawa at about 9 p.m.
Officers arrived and “educated her on the proper use of the 911 system. -
