  A Carp-area prep school that closed abruptly in December has filed for bankruptcy.
  Shocked and bewildered Venta Preparatory School parents got an email message from principal Marilyn Mansfield early on Dec. 9, indicating that the school was closing, effective immediately.
  Venta had about 83 students from junior kindergarten to Grade 10 at the time, with day students paying $20,500 a year in tuition.

  The number of people signing up to donate organs or tissue in Canada jumped sharply after the Humboldt Broncos bus crash — but fell again during the following week.
  Before the April 6 crash, about 70 to 80 Canadians were signing up each day to offer their organs for transplant after they die. But on April 10 alone, 865 people signed up on BeADonor.ca. The next day there were a further 703 sign-ups. Then the numbers began falling again, down to about 170 a day for much of the past week.

  Ottawa police asked for the public’s help late Saturday night as the search continued for missing man with severe dementia.
  Jonathan Moyst, 75, was last seen at about 1 p.m. on Saturday. He went missing from the The Oaks at 1057 Merivale Rd.
  Moyst was described as a white, 5-8, balding man with a medium build. He was wearing a blue baseball cap and a black windbreaker jacket.
  Anyone with information was asked to contact the Central Division staff sergeant at 613-236-1222 ext. 5212.
