  Ottawa police are investigating a targeted shooting after shots were fired into a home with a child inside on Carillon Street in Vanier early Tuesday morning.
  Responding officers found a single round lodged inside a home just after midnight. No one was injured in the shooting but multiple people were home at the time, including a child.
  Central criminal detectives are asking any witnesses to the shooting to come forward.

  One man was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation as firefighters doused a fire at a Canterbury Avenue apartment building Tuesday morning.
  They were summoned by an alarm at 830 Canterbury Ave. and crews spotted smoke from outside of the building and a haze on multiple floors inside.
  The source was discovered in a second-floor unit and a working fire was declared at 4:46 a.m. It was under control at 4:52 a.m. and damage stopped by 4:59 a.m.

  A 26-year-old Gatineau woman died after her vehicle crashed on Highway 148 near Quyon early Tuesday.
  Her passenger, a 27-year-old Otter Lake man, was unhurt but was taken to the Shawville hospital suffering from shock after the single-vehicle crash, which happened at about 12:30 a.m. The woman’s east-bound vehicle went off the road, landing in the ditch.
