Ottawa city council has approved plastic bags and dog feces for the green bin program starting in mid-2019.
The 19-3 vote on Wednesday approves a revision to the city’s contract with Orgaworld to modestly expand the list of items allowed in the green bin. Councillors Tobi Nussbaum, Jeff Leiper and Catherine McKenney voted no.

Hotel fire on Prince of Wales Drive slows traffic
Emergency services were warning of traffic slowdowns after Ottawa fire crews were called to a small fire at the Ramada hotel on Prince of Wales Drive on Wednesday.
A fire services spokesperson confirmed crews were called to the Ramada Ottawa On the Rideau at 2259 Prince of Wales Dr., just north of Fallowfield Road, at 1:48 p.m.

Group effort revives man in cardiac arrest at Ottawa arena
A man was alive Wednesday afternoon thanks to a group effort after he went into cardiac arrest while playing hockey at the Ray Friel Arena.
An ICU nurse bystander provided CPR to the man in his 50s and staff of the arena administered two defibrillator shocks. Paramedics, who received the call at 12:48 p.m., delivered additional shocks and the man was conscious when he arrived at hospital, where he was reported in critical condition.

Mover charged after man threatened to 'kill' complaining Kingston clients
A 45-year-old Calgary mover has been charged with uttering death threats after a two clients in Kingston told police he said he “find them and kill them” for complaining about his service.

Ottawa police are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect wanted for attempted murder after a shooting on Anderson Street on Saturday.
Police said Yaheya Benamiar of Ottawa, 19, faces charges of attempted murder, discharging a firearm, using a firearm in the commission of an offence and carrying a concealed firearm.

Council has approved plastic bags and dog feces for the green bin program starting in mid-2019.
The 19-3 vote on Wednesday approves a revision to the city’s contract with Orgaworld to modestly expand the list of items allowed in the green bin. Councillors Tobi Nussbaum, Jeff Leiper and Catherine McKenney voted no.

Mover charged after threatening to 'kill' complaining Kingston clients
A 45-year-old Calgary mover has been charged with uttering death threats after telling his clients in Kingston he would “find them and kill them” for complaining about his service.
Kingston police say the victims hired the man Mar. 20 to relocate their belongings “across the country to their new home just north of Kingston.”
The man, who overloaded his trailer, demanded more money from the victims to cover the cost of damages during the move.

Dense fog may drop visibility to zero in some areas, wet weather ahead
The capital woke up to a foggy, drizzly new day Wednesday and the weather office predicts that’s what it’s going to look like for the next few days.
Traffic, particularly along the heavy volume arteries was slowed down by the reduced visibility.

Man arrested after wrong-way truck hits car on Hwy 401, injures second driver
A man was seriously injured Tuesday when the car he was driving collided with a a rental truck headed the wrong direction in the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 near Cornwall.
The car driver’s injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
The crash occurred at about 4:15 p.m. between McConnell and Boundary roads in South Stormont Township. The busy section was closed for several hours.

Two hurt when fire tears through Gatineau triplex
Two people were taken to hospital as fire swept through a triplex in east-end Gatineau late Tuesday.
The fire broke out a little before 5 p.m. in a brick building on rue Notre-Dame Street, east of boulevard Lorrain near the Templeton Quarry. Thick black smoke was visible for several kilometres.
About 25 Gatineau firefighters were on scene into the evening. They had to cut a whole in the roof to get access to the fire. The street was been closed by police.
