Mammoth tusks, illegally taken, return to Canada, 60 years later
It was a mammoth caper, but the loot is now back in Canada, thanks to the FBI.
The Canadian Museum of Nature announced Thursday that two tusks from the Ice Age elephantids, which were illegally taken by an American collector in 1960, have been returned to Canada.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation seized the tusks from the Indiana home of well-known and now-dead collector Don Miller.
Miller — who mistakenly thought the tusks were from mastodons — told police he recovered them t -
Dreessen: Let's value architecture like we do music and art
Starting in 1872, Canada had a Chief Architect, originally a Dominion Architect, responsible for the design of many federal buildings. However, that role ended in 1975. In some federal departments, such as the Department of National Defence, the role of the chief architect lives on. Some municipalities, such as Edmonton, have a city architect, to great success.
Today though, many cities, the province and the federal government lack this sort of vision. They lack a sophisticated, strategic, desig -

Samulack: The Karlssons' tragedy reminds us to support each other after pregnancy loss
With the tragic loss of Erik and Melinda Karlsson’s son, there is a need to raise awareness about pregnancy and infant loss resources in Ottawa/Gatineau.
Pregnancy is supposed to be a time of excitement and anticipation of the future. Adam: Pollster reputations are at risk in the Ontario election
If you follow the polls, there is little doubt who is going to win the June 7 Ontario election. The Progressive Conservatives are not just going to win big, they are going to wipe the Liberal party off the floor of the legislature into oblivion.
If there ever was a slam dunk election, this is it.
We know this because dozens of polls conducted over the last two years say so – and numbers don’t lie.

Brockington said he lined up cash for speedbumps on nearby Coldrey Avenue but they likely won’t be installed until 2019.
